As Southeast Asia and several Indian states see a fresh uptick in Covid-19 cases, Haryana is beginning to feel the ripple effects. On Tuesday, health officials confirmed 11 new Covid-19 infections across Gurgaon and Faridabad, raising the total number of active cases in the two districts to 29.
Gurgaon reported six fresh cases, while Faridabad added five to its tally. Most of these infections are described as mild and are being managed at home under isolation. Health authorities are maintaining strict vigilance to prevent any potential escalation.
Among the new cases in Gurgaon, five patients had no recent travel history—an indication of possible local transmission. These include individuals from Sectors 42, 56, 49, 67, and 37C. The sixth case involved a 50-year-old man from Hayatpur who had recently returned from Haridwar, according to The Indian Express.
In Faridabad, 130 samples were tested, resulting in five new confirmed cases. Meanwhile, three patients recovered, bringing the district’s active caseload to 12. Since the beginning of the year, Faridabad has recorded a total of 26 confirmed infections.
Importantly, no Covid-related deaths have been reported in Haryana so far, and all current patients in Gurgaon are recovering in home isolation. The health department has reassured residents that the situation remains under control, with no cause for panic.
This localized rise aligns with a broader regional trend. Several Indian states, including Kerala, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu, are also reporting an increase in daily cases. However, the majority continue to be mild, with no major spike in hospitalizations or fatalities.
Authorities continue to urge the public to stay informed, follow health guidelines, and avoid complacency as monitoring efforts remain active across the state.
